Had 6 lads out on a premier trip today. we stuck closer to home as there was a bit more breeze and hoping to find one or two early codling. The two steves are regulars aboard the galloper and were joined by several others lads on hire gear. jim was on his first trip in this area and mark and the lads have been before earlier in the year. Our first mark was lively with plenty of dogfish and whiting coming out on the start of the tide. A few roker came out as the tide got under way to break up the small stuff. Although fishing was busy we decided on a move to try another mark before the tide died. Bites were a lot slower here so after an hour with a roker and a few whiting we had a short move. The next mark was a slight improvement but only slight. There were more bites here but just the one roker in an hour so we headed back to the river where we could get a bit more tide for longer. There was far more life here in the form of dogfish and whiting along with the first codling of the season for steve. We ended up with 7 roker and a codling for the day.
