With great weather forecast and the use of a tractor we were set for a full days fishing today. we had a much earlier start and took the boat to port logan. Staceys phone was playing up and somehow we had lost the phone number of the fisherman whos tractor we were going to borrow. After a wonder around and asking one of the other locals to launch us we had no joy as he was just going out to town. We headed back to drumore and met one of the other fishermen who offered to let us use his tractor on the drumore side if we needed. We went to collect the boat from port logan and have one more go at putting the boat in. this time we stopped well away from the water and pushed the boat down by hand into the water instead of with the truck. It was ridiculously easy and made us wonder why we hadn’t tried it before! By now the best part of the day had gone again but we were afloat and the weather was great. We tried a deeper area first of all in the hope we might find a spurdog or something here. As usual there were plenty of dogfish and as the tide backed off a few whiting and a grey gurnard. I sent a bait down for common skate but with no joy. After the tide turned we made our way closer in shore in the hope we might find something different. We had plenty more dogfish and an octopus on the first bit. Then we tried under the rocks for wrasse but didn’t had a touch so we had a little drift in the bay for flatties without a touch before pulling the boat out and heading back for the night.
