day 2 sandland brygge
after chatting to the northern lads last night we had a change of tack today. the wind was much the same but it was bright sunshine most of the day which made things more comfortable. The lads had told us where they had found some good sheltered fishing and after yesterday we wanted to see some more bends in rods. We started well with a few codling and a small halibut, when we called past the other lads they were out fishing us by miles so we changed lures and adjusted our tactics slightly to match theirs and saw an immediate improvement. We were soon getting far for fish and some nice ones pushing doubles too. we couldn’t quite drift as far and the other lads as lee was a little uncomfortable with the swell (he gets sea sick but did very well all week and wasn’t sick once despite fishing in some awful conditions) by some point in the afternoon we had 40 odd cod and a halibut but fancied a change to end the day. we had a move and tried for plaice and dabs on lighter gear. We had one jumbo dab along with a few bites and two small halibut which went very well on light flattie gear.
