out today with simon and the lads for the first time in a while, the 7 lads had hired the boat for the day which was another corker on the weather side. Our first mark proved productive with 4 roker and several whiting and dogfish by slack water. We had a move over slack tide and the next mark was a waste of time other than a few dogfish. We had another move now with the tide running through well and struggled here too. Simon lost a roker and redeemed himself a while later by catching one. Before I knew it two ours had passed with just one roker and several whiting and dogfish showing so we had a move. The next mark produced a roker first thing but no more after that. We had a few more whiting and dogs but It was clear we were chasing our tails and had wasted too much of the tide looking for fish. luckily we had one more trick up our sleeves which was the schoolie bass which have hung around nice and late. They really saved our day as I took the lads for a play for a while at the end of the day. There was as many as ive seen working around the river and the lads had lots of stringfulls of bass although we didn’t quite manage a sizable one there were lots of chunky fish mixed in with them.
