As the weather continues to throw a mixture of conditions at us we have seen a mixture of fishing too. When we can, we have been heading a long way offshore for bass and will continue to do so for a few weeks yet. Without going as far as that on our general trips we have seen good numbers of roker, heaps of dogfish and whiting. There are still the odd bass, smooth-hound and tope pups mixed in with the autumn species. There have been reports of the odd codling however we havnt had any inshore on the Galloper yet.

Once again we had to seek shelter in the blackwater the other day. I was joined by Graham, who hadn’t managed to get out since January. Along with Graham was Tim and some more of his family. Tim and has Dad had bought his two oldest boys out the other week and this time he was joined by two more for their first fishing trip. The weather was miserable with strong winds and rain all day but despite this the boys took it in their stride and had a lovely day. there were whiting and dogfish from the off and our first roker came soon after. The boys had a whale of a time and didn’t loose enthusiasm despite being soaked through. this time of year can be a great time to introduce youngsters to sea fishing. there is no shortage of bites from the vast shoals of whiting and dogfish to keep them entertained. Wrap them up warm and get them out of the house for a days fishing. I love seeing the next generation of anglers coming through and seeing these lads smile brightened up a damp autumn day.

further afield it was nice to see Pauls group catching plenty of fish on their first of two trips this month. Unfortunately Paul couldn’t make it so the lads were joined by Dave for the day. the lads had a steady trickle of roker all day between the countless dogfish, whiting and tope pups.
