I had fred, doug and the lads booked today. there were 5 of them out for an offshore bass trip and although it was a bit lumpy on the way out the evo did us proud and pushed off there. We had left a bit later than usual as we were unsure what the weather would be like so we arrived as the tide died. Fred managed a bass first cast which always bodes well but as the tide died we ended up swinging off of our mark. We had to be patient while the tide turned so we could position our selves right for the next tide. The lads continued to fish and missed the odd bite along with sneaking the odd one out. finally we were able to reposition our selves for the next tide and once anchored we sat really nicely. Ted was the first one to get the fish as they came through and he put 3 or more bass on the boat in quick succession. Fred was next to have his rod tip wound over with another decent bass tearing off. He was fishing two rods at this time and had a lovely brace of fish as a shoal passed through. we hung on to the first one for a picture of them together before releasing one. Fred soon packed his second rod away as he was worried he might loose a rod with the power of these bites. The size of the fish was creeping up now and soon Chris was the only one who hadn’t caught yet. he had assured us he was waiting for a decent fish and he didn’t disappoint! His first fish was a cracking bass of 8.2lbs! as you may have guessed this went very well as we expect from the bass on our offshore trips the bass always fight far better off there. Doug had a decent fish around 7lbs or so shortly after which was unfortunately over shadowed by chris’s previous fish. most of the fish were 4-8bls with just one fish right at the end that was a schoolie and would have even made the legal size. Fishing tailed off after a couple of hours as we expected and rather than try another mark as we usually would the lads chose to head home as they had their one fish each and had enjoyed there day so wanted to make it back in time to catch the football. So we packed up at 13.30 and headed home. The lads totalled 20 bass which wasn’t bad considering most came on 2 hours of fishing.
