Today I was joined by leon and the lads for this months trip. Unfortunately we couldn’t get offshore as intended but we were pleasantly surprised when the weather allowed us to venture out of the estuary this morning for a few hours. We found plenty of whiting to start and they kept us occupied throughout the run of the tide. We had a couple of dogfish during the day although these have been becoming less common as the water temperature drops inshore. We had a move after a couple of hours and had the last of the tide here. this mark produced more whiting as expected along with a flounder for tim which was a welcome change and then a roker for graham. We fished until the wind beat the tide and took a slow ride back to the river. Once back in the blackwater our intended quarry were dabs which dad had seen a few of on the last tide. We didn’t have loads of worm or fish baits with us but there was enough for a couple of hours. The tide was still slack when we arrived and it took a while to get going. While we waited there was just the odd whiting to keep us busy. Once the first little trickle of tide came through the bites started and the lads had a nice run of dabs of various sizes along with a few more whiting. We ended up with 18 dabs in the short time we fished here and a lovely sunset too.
