Back out today with another premier trip, there was a notch more wind so it was a roker job today. the tides were nice for it so I was hopeful. The first mark produced a couple of dabs over low water along with whiting as expected. As the tide got going we had lots more whiting but no roker that I had hoped for. After an hour or so we put a move in to try and find a few better fish. the wind and tide were a pain on the next mark but we did get settled fairly quickly and had a bit of tide come through. there were a few whiting coming out (which I wasn’t really expecting so shows how prolific they are) but no roker for a long time. We had an hour and a bit before the first one came out for dennis. We gave it another 30 minutes with no more before putting a move in to try and land on a few. There were more whiting here but no roker for us. The whiting are good fun and keep rods bending but wear a bit thin after the millionth one! Over slack water we had a move to one of my favourite marks to end the day. This produced yet more whiting and a good few dogfish towards the end which in all honesty were a welcome change to whiting. We finished the day up with 9 gazillion whiting, 1 roker, a couple of dabs and a few dogfish. We had a nice day and the lads were mostly pleased to get out. Alex had been trying to get a trip out from the south coast for weeks and every one was cancelled (I don’t envy those skippers with this weather) so he was pleased to get afloat and catch loads of fish. even when the fishing is hard and the weather is poor we can still get afloat and find a few fish in the blackwater.
