Headed back out today with 6 individuals on today, most were beginners or on the hire rods including young Finley and Alex (both 10 years old) on their first sea fishing trip. It was flat calm again but over cast with spots of rain throughout the day so not as perfect as yesterday but ive seen far worse. I spoke to Ben who has been out a few times with me and he was keen to head for hounds first thing as I had done yesterday. We arrived slightly later in the tide than yesterday but were soon catching fish. with most of the lads beginners I had my hands full but at least they were only using one rod each. We stuck to hermit crab for bait this morning to target the hounds and saved our ragworm for this afternoon. The numbers of fish were down on yesterday as was to be expected. The lads did really well though and the youngsters were catching plenty of fish and doing it all them selves too. we ran out of hermits as the tide began to ease. We had a couple of drifts for bass with feathers before heading closer to home to target bass for the afternoon. We arrived here just as the tide got under way. We had bites from the first cast, andy managed a small hound which had got a little lost. I was kept busy as lots of small bass came aboard and a couple more sizable ones too. it was home time all too soon and we had managed 20-30 hounds and loads of bass for the trip. Its definitely wprth getting some worm at the moment. There are plenty of bass around in places and the hounds will take rag too. I am getting a few hermits and keeping them but if your on a trip it may be worth bringing some peeler for the hounds. I have plenty of spaces for hounds over the coming weeks.
