Headed out with what was meant to be a premier offshore trip today but with a bit of breeze and a few tope showing inshore we stayed fairly close to home. We started off feathering for mackerel. It wasn’t thick and fast but we had the odd one or two here and there so after a couple of drifts had around 20 mackerel. We headed off to our chosen mark to fish for tope.  Once anchored the lads were soon catching although it wasn’t a tope that came up first but a roker, stehen soon put that right when he had a small tope to start us off. The roker kept coming along with the odd smooth-hound and a few dogfish (stuart was particularly good at targeting these). Stephen managed to pull a couple more small tope out  and eventually Paul had one too but they were all just pups up to 6lbs or so. The tide turned and we considered a move but I hadn’t heard of anybody else having loads more than us today and I had heard of a 51lb fish coming out very near by. The next tide produced the odd mackerel and a few horse mackerel to replenish our bait stocks. We had a few more roker but no more tope. When we got in we spoke to derek on the eastern promise  and he had managed 8 over 30lbs right next to us! Sometimes your either on them or you arnt I suppose. We had faired a lot better on the roker with over 30 of them for the day to keep us busy unfortunately they weren’t todays target.

sorry i never took any pictures today as i was waiting for the big one that never showed.
