Despite being a tad windy at times it was another busy week with a few day and evening trips on the go. It was nice to welcome Tony’s group for the first time this year. A few of the lads were missing due to social distancing measures but we got out and found a few fish for those that did join us. we started off with a nice mixture of dogfish, roker and hounds in the morning. No monster hounds but plenty of action. We moved at slack tide and targeted bass for the afternoon. We still had a couple more hounds and roker but several bass came out including a few that the lads could keep. I was back out that evening with Neal’s group for a short evening trip we had loads of bass on feathers over the first couple of hours. Fred was top rod ending up with over 50 on his own. Although most were small there were a couple of keepers mixed in too. We put the anchor down for the last hour and had several more bass as well as a few roker. The next day saw several regular faces make up an individual trip. We didn’t find any decent hounds as we hoped we might although there were plenty of small ones about. We had quite a mixed bag by the end of the day though including a few eels and even a sole. The lads had a good few keepable bass which made up for the lack of big hounds. I was back out that evening with more regular individuals. The wind dropped briefly which made it some of the nicest weather I saw over the entire run of trips. We had another bass fest for a couple of hours. The fish were a bit spooky but there were some nice ones to be had amongst them. The lads easily caught their quota and continued to catch and release long after. We got the anchor down and had some hounds and more bass before heading home. The next day saw yet more wind but we were able to find a few fish to make the effort worth while. We started with several small bass but it didn’t take long before the first sizable fish came through. we had a mixture of fish throughout the day including several eels and another sole caught by Sam. As I mentioned the stamp of hounds wasn’t amazing this week but chris took it to the extreme when he caught what must have been a new born towards the end of the trip.
