july

it was another great week aboard the galloper. The weather was up and down a bit. Strong winds and awkward tides made it challenging at times but we still saw good numbers of hounds. Even on the windy days we had 25-40 hounds per trip. The stamp was down a bit on what we have seen of late but we still had some nice fish. with several pushing doubles and as ever bigger fish lost.  Marks party had a few bass on the feathers. The fish were a bit skittish but we winkled a few out of them. The lads did well considering they were all plumbers!! Fish of the week didn’t make it on board the boat. We were packing up to head home and I was already hauling the anchor as the last lads reeled in. the tide was slack and the water was pretty clear. I could hardly believe my eyes when dave bought a red mullet to the surface! No sooner had the words ‘red mullet’ left my lips as I shut the capstan down than it  shook its self off the hook! It even sat on  the surface momentarily as if to poke fun at us.  Other than the maybe there were plenty of hounds, bass, baby tope and other bits and bobs during the week.
