Today uncle steve was moving on to courtmacsherry and leaving us for the next week. He saw us off on the boat and we headed out just outside the harbour for another general day with a chance of shark. We got some more mackerel first then set up a drift. There were lots of whiting to start again with and it wasn’t long before the first shark came aboard. Stacey had this one and it was a lovely little porbeagle of 24lbs. we didn’t have any more interest from sharks but we had lots of small ling, Pollock, codling ect and toward the end of the drift I was getting hammered by whiting again. I must admit it was hard work to get through them but I kept going and was rewarded with my first hake. It was only a little one but made my day. By now the breeze had picked up so rather than go around for another drift we headed in to stock up on mackerel ready for tomorrows ruby dubby.
