First day on the boat today and we were joined by uncle steve for a few days. We started off fishing for ballen wrasse for a couple of hours and had some wrasse along with small Pollock and coalfish. We then tried for some mackerel for bait so we could head out a bit further in search of some other species. Mackerel were hard going but we scratched a few together along with a nice tub gurnard and a whiting. We pushed further out and had a drift over an inshore reef. We set up a couple of shark rods and got a bit of chum going with what mackerel we had. There were lots of bits and bobs to be caught here including a few codling, grey gurnard, red gurnard, ling whiting 3 at a time and of course Pollock. We didn’t have any interest from any sharks but still had a good day.
