Leon and the lads were booked on today, they were a little short on people so Stephen and Laura made up the numbers. We started off in the river as there was a bit of breeze first thing. We found a few roker of all sizes, lots of pin whiting and a dab by slack tide. Although the fishing was good where we were some of the lads fancied a run further down to try our luck as the weather was fining away nicely. I had a feeling the fishing was better where we were but I am always keen to try something different. I was confident we would find a few fish further off and we were hopeful we may even find a bearded whiting. As it happened we had more roker and the fishing was a tad slower than we had seen in the river. What surprised me was there were fewer whiting when we fished further out. There were still large amounts of sprats in the river which should be leaving us any time now (if they haven’t already gone by the time I write). When the sprats depart the other fishing will be on its toes a bit more. That said we had a good day in great weather and still managed 19 roker. The move further down didn’t pay off but nothing ventured nothing gained.
