It was nice to get out on our first trip since the latest lockdown the other day. although there was a bit of south easterly breeze to start with and it was chilly first thing too. However we made our way out a fair distance to our planned mark. As expected there were plenty of whiting and dogfish keeping us busy from the start with bites as soon as the bait hit the bottom. Andy had the first roker of the day and thankfully it wasn’t the last as we had a few throughout the day. we had a couple of moves to try and keep on the fish. one mark even produced a couple of codling which was nice to see. They may not be in numbers but its nice to feel we are in with a chance of catching a codling on a cold winters day. by the end of the day we had countless whiting and dogfish, the odd pouting , 2 codling and a few skate too. I cant promise lots of big cod and skate at the moment but I can offer you a nice day out with plenty of fish and hopefully enjoyable company too. I have one or two days with spaces left around Christmas although they are beginning to fill up now.

Please keep an eye out for the books I have been promoting. They are both available on amazon and would make   just search for either book and they seem easy enough to find.

The first book which is an interesting biography from charter skipper Paul Whittall is called ‘from army brat to seadog’

The second book includes many stories from the fishing world including several legends such as Geordie Dickerson and Roger Bayzand. I am honoured to have had my own ‘watery reflections’ story included within the latest book alongside these great skippers. This book is called ‘Sea-Dog Tall Tales’

Don’t forget all profits from both books will go to the RNLI (lifeboat)
