Mike had booked the boat today with agroup of his mates, many of whom had been aboard the galloper before. There was a good breeze but it was meant to ease a little through the day. We made our way around to a more sheltered mark to start with. Our first cast was promising with either a fish or a bite on most rods. Dave had a nice bass around 2lbs and we had a smooth-hound and a roker come out. we had a couple more bites along with a dogfish and a baby tope but things were slow so we had a move. The next mark was a bad move and we had just a small bass before our next move. This mark produced another couple of dogfish and another hound around 7-8lbs before the tide died. We moved over slack and with the turn of the tide the sea state decreased. We stopped on a mark to use the last of the worm up in the hope of a few bass but managed just one small schoolie. We had one last crack at a move before giving up and had another roker, a dogfish and missed a couple of bites before heading home. We didn’t have loads but a bit of variety, a few (mainly small) bass, 2 hounds, 2 roker, a topette and a few dogfish for the day. It seemed they just weren’t feeding very well today.
