Fishing has been hit and miss over the last week or so. There have been a few nice smooth-hounds about here and there. Martin joined us for the first time since lockdown and hopefully it was worth the wait. He was rewarded with a fine smooth-hound of just over 14lbs. They may not always have been in big numbers but fishing should improve as the tides build this week. Likewise we have seen bass every trip but the bigger fish are hit and miss. Ragworm helps for the bass although fresh mackerel (if you happen to catch them) and squid have helped pick out the bigger fish. we have seen several 4-5lb fish mixed in with the smaller bass over the last few trips.its worth bringing a lighter rod with lures or at least feathers as if we are lucky we can often bump into shoals of bass or mackerel which add to the days sport. there are a few roker and dogfish in the right places and these will increase in numbers as we get closer to September. I have 3 spaces this Saturday evening looking for hounds/bass if you fancy joining us.
