I was out today with leons group (although leon couldn’t make it today) as the main group were a couple light today the lads were joined Andy and Reuben. The weather wasn’t perfect but it was plenty good enough for what we wanted and the wind and tide were together for most of the day. Our first mark started steadily with a few roker coming in to get us started. As the tide pushed a bit herder the lads kept me busy netting plenty of roker and also pulled in the odd whiting or dogfish. Barney pulled out a little bass which was a welcome change for us too. The fish were a mixture of sizes and there were a few into double figures mixed in too. As the tide eased off a touch the fishing slowed down and there was little point in moving until the turn of the tide. The last hour or so of tide was quiet although as I hauled the anchor to move Reuben bought another skate to the boat. We moved closer to home and had an hour or two here. The first bites were slow to come then fishing picked up as we approached home time. We got to 49 roker and I wanted to hit 50 before we went but typically Andy and Reuben had a double hook up last cast to put us at 51. Not a bad day at all in great company.
