There may not be any cod to speak of but our general trips are still very productive inshore at the moment. Fishing is still ‘fish a chuck’ or there a bouts with heaps of whiting and dogfish most places interspersed with occasional roker to put a better bend in the rod. There are some better whiting amongst them with several each trip 33-36cm long. These are worth taking for a meal above this size as well the odd dogfish which are very under-rated as eating fish. there are still a few schoolie bass mixed in to those who have worm even very close inshore. we have seen one or two tub gurnards too which always brighten up our day. Dabs have shown on many trips and will feature more when the tides come right and we target them over the next couple of months. Its surprising that as the tide comes right they can switch on and often be 2-3 at a time on the right rigs.
