As the weather has been on its toes for the last couple of weeks we have seen some great fishing. I am worried I might be getting past it as I am cream cracked following a busy couple of weeks with several evening trips as well as long days. Thankfully it has been worth it as the fishing has matched our enthusiasm. Much as I don’t enjoy a late night I still enjoy the evening trips and what they can produce. We have had shorter evenings in the estuary which produced plenty of rays and bass along with the occasional smooth-hound. Further afield there have been some great hounds about, lots of doubles have been showing and our best is so far fell to Chris Singleton at 19.5lbs. Chris was pleased to catch another PB aboard the Galloper despite my best efforts to knock it off with the net! Not everybody wants to specifically target the bass or hounds and they don’t always want to be targeted. So some of our trips have produced great mixed days with numbers of rays, numbers of hounds and some lovely bass too.
Over the next few weeks I would expect the numbers of dogfish and rays to decline and we will tend to concentrate on hounds and bass for a while inshore. From the middle of July onwards I will be targeting mostly bass on offshore trips when we can. Please get in touch if you wish to get booked on an offshore bass trip as they are starting to fill up now.

COVID-19 UPDATE
We have now had confirmation that the large deck area on Galloper we have some good news. we are able to accommodate up to 8 anglers plus the skipper as of 17/05/21.
This is great news for anybody planning a full boat booking as they can try and keep the cost per person down a bit.
However we are keeping any existing bookings as 6 anglers plus the skipper for now and I will only take bookings for later in the summer on this basis. I would rather leave the date open for now until we are out of the woods with covid. It wasn’t much fun re-arranging things last year and I hope to avoid it this year if I can help it.
If you wish to book a trip with more than 6 people at short notice and the guidelines are still the same then I will gladly take you.
