headed out today with wayne and the lads for their annual booking. The weather wasn’t great but the lads were still up for it so we headed out early to make the most of some shelter. The day started well with a steady steam of small hounds coming out until slack tide. Paul snuck out the only bass of the morning but we were only fishing hermit so didn’t expect many. After the turn of the tide paul had a roker to add to his species and the other lads had a few more hounds. The wind had freshened and the sea state was starting to pick up even in this sheltered area. we moved closer to home a bit earlier than expected and started to fish with our worm baits. There weren’t the numbers of bass here I had hoped for but we had the odd roker coming out to keep us occupied. The lads even had a treble hook up at one point. John’s rod had been one of the busiest through out the day despite his relaxed approach. As if to prove his system worked he somehow managed to sneak out a stingray too! it was a small male of 11.8lbs but our first of the year. It was great just to see one and was the highlight of a wet and windy day. we had a few more small bass and a couple more roker before the tide died and we headed in. we had 20 odd hounds to 7-8lbs, 11 roker, a few bass and a stingray for the day. not bad between 4 hire rods. I look forwards to seeing the lads again next year.
