I headed out today with 6 regulars for a premier trip. We got an early start in as we hoped to head out in search of some decent smooth-hounds. After a good steam we arrived and the tide was just under way. The first bites came straight away and we soon had our first fish aboard. The lads had rag worm along with some hermits I had managed to gather. The rag worm was producing loads of bites from small bass and the hermits were picking up the hounds. The first few hounds were small but it wasn’t long before one or two better fish came out. Lyndon had the first double but this was soon joined by more as the fish kept coming out. the biggest only went 12-13lbs but these fish are fantastic sport on light gear. I would argue that as far as sport is concerned we can rival anywhere when the fishing is like this. By 11 am we had gone through half a bucket of hermits and boated 40-50 hounds. We hung around a bit longer using worm and seeing plenty more schoolie bass along with the odd hound. Over slack tide we had a move closer to home and spent the afternoon fishing for bass. We had a few more bass and 2 roker as well a Stephen loosing one next to the boat. There was a bit much tide here and with the fishing that much slower than this morning we headed home early. It had been a great day and some of the best smooth-hound fishing I have seen for a couple of years along with lots of bass around so things look good for the coming weeks.
