i have held back a few reports from our offshore trips so far this year, i had most of them booked up in advance and i am trying to avoid people holding off booking until they see a good report. here’s another one from march
Back offshore today with cracking weather yet again and 6 regulars aboard. We had a long steam out again and started off differently by bait fishing at first. The lads had plenty of dogfish, whiting and pouting to start with so the fuel was more than justified. After an hour and a half or so the excitement was too much so we went to try for some early bass after yesterdays success. This turned out to be a good idea as we arrived far earlier in the tide than yesterday so we managed a good 2 hours or more of hectic sport for the lads. there were plenty of fish in the 2-4lbs range and several smaller too. After that we tried some bait fishing for the last dregs of tide. This produced some dabs and the first plaice of the year for Stephen. We had the odd dogfish and some pouting before the tide began to turn and we moved back to where we finished yesterday. This produced slightly less roker than yesterday and more dogfish (which the lads were pleased with) all in all not a bad day, this is by far the biggest number of bass I have ever seen in march with roughly 150 or more coming out. it’s a shame we didn’t get any spurs but it was still good fishing and the lads were all happy.
