Leon and the lads joined me for their first trip of the year, some very poor weather has clashed with their last two trips resulting in cancellation so the lads were keen to get out. we were meant to be offshore but the forecast wasn’t good enough today. I must admit for the first half of the day I was worried that I had made the wrong decision but the wind freshened and by home time there was no doubt we had made the right choice. We started out at the usual time and caught the last of the tide in the river. We had a couple of roker here and Nigel even had the first fish (very out of character). We had a move over slack water and caught the first of the next tide on mark number 2. The fishing was busy to start with here and the lads were catching plenty of roker along with the odd dogfish and some giant whiting for Jim (one was nearly 4 inches long!) the fishing slowed a bit here and so we had a move for the last of the tide. We finished with a flurry and put a few more fish to the tally. We ended up with 30 roker for the day. Leon had the biggest and Nigel and Barney were top rods. We even had a starting stow away on the foredeck for a while. I think it just liked the look of the evolution and fancied a ride!
