I cancelled todays trip due to the wind and lack of incentive for the lads. it was bitterly cold and breezy as I arrived at the lake for a days pike fishing. I set up a feeder rod too today and had plenty of roach and rudd to start with but the first bites on the pike gear took a while. One float just bobbed under for a couple of seconds then did no more. It turned out the bait had been nabbed by what I think may have been a perch. Shortly after the other float went under and I left it ages. I had the fish on for a few seconds before it came off. These were the only bites on my pike gear all morning. I must admit I intended moving as there were plenty of swims free. The only problem was some of our favourites were right in the teeth of a bitterly cold wind which would make fishing awkward and being there uncomfortable. With just a couple of hours to go and the wind easing I moved to the swim next to me for an hour. This produced nothing so as dusk rapidly approached I had another move to try and sneak a fish out before night fell. I was in this swim just a short while and on the first cast had a nice pike. This was followed shortly after by another pike and a nice perch.
