To be honest it was a bit hectic this week with 6 trips of varying types to report on so I will be brief about them all. Also sod all pictures as they didn’t want to down load on to the computer (must have run out of film).
Leon and the lads had booked the boat today for this months trip although leon was away on holiday this week. We got an early start this morning to make the most of the tide. We managed a few hermits from the pot so had enough to get going first thing. We had a few hounds on the start of the tide and by the time we ran out of crabs the tide was starting to really shift. We had a move in the search of more variation and had a few roker first cast. We sat it out for another 90 minutes or so with no joy so put a short move in. we had a roker and lost one as the tide backed off. We picked a couple more roker up over the turn of the tide too. As the next tide got going tim had a nice hound and a couple of baby tope came in as we packed up. No great guns today, it felt slow with no dogs or whiting coming in which is normal for the time of year.
Did a quick turn around and headed back out on an evening trip. Had a mixture of regulars and beginners aboard tonight. Headed a long way down in search of a few more fish this evening. The first two marks were weedy and by the time we made it to the third the tide was dead. It took an age to get going but as it did the first bites came through. we had a nice hound pushing double figures come out as the tide got going. Dennis then had a nice bass 3-4lbs and andy followed it soon after with a nice hound of 13.4lbs. we finished up with just the 4 hounds, abass and a baby tope. Biggest hound 13.4lbs for andy.
Back out today with andy and the lads from Lincolnshire/Cambridge. We were after hounds but started off poorly when my hermit crab pot had disappeared. We had a bit of rag and squid so struggled on with that. The first mark produced 3 small hounds on the start of the tide then we moved up for roker with a chance of hounds. The day was slow with a few roker coming out and a nice hound for andy around 9lbs or so. By slack tide the lads called it a day and we headed in with 4 hounds 5 roker.
Headed back out with mark and the lads who had booked a short evening trip tonight, our first mark produced a couple of eels and a roker (things were already an improvement on the day trip). We had a short move which saw the lads getting non stop bites from schoolie bass. As the bait got thin on the ground and the lads had seen plenty of little bass we had a couple of drifts with feathers and had lots of little bass before heading home.
Had another short evening trip tonight with Richard and tom booking the boat. We started off well with a small bass for Richard but decided to move due to the heap of weed. Our next mark produced no bites so we had a move around but ended up back were we started more or less. we eventually had a few bites and lots of little bass before a couple of drifts on the way in which resulted in several string fulls of bass for the lads.
