Had a premier offshore trip today with many of the usual lads aboard. We started off trying for mackerel and with an earlier start and slightly better conditions we had higher hopes. Stephen Clarke had winkled out a sand smelt before we even left the causeway this morning. Stephen Charles and martin got us off to a kind of start on the mackerel by catching a couple of anchovy. It took a while before the first mackerel came aboard but andy and paul had a couple of string fulls to get us going then joe topped up a few more along with a scad. We didn’t have loads but it was enough. We made our way back to where we had fished yesterday in the hope that an earlier start might help us out. in the first cast we had a whiting, roker and a hound all to andy then Stephen Clarke hooked a better fish on his tope rod. It had a fair run around before we got it onto the boat. It was a nice fish although not his biggest I tad larger then yesterdays biggest going 23-25lbs. martin had a pup tope shortly after this so we though all good signs of things to come. The tide turned without any signs of more tope and plenty of dogfish to keep us happy. The next tide came and we waited with baited breath but all we could manage was another pup. We finished up with 3 tope and a lots of other bits and pieces before heading home.
