Headed back out today with 6 lads on a premier offshore trip. With slightly better weather and tides we put a bit more mileage in today. we didn’t stop for mackerel as the water was still the wrong colour and i had a load of fantastic quality frozen mackerel from ‘bait box’ in stead. Our first mark produced lots of dogfish and a few roker. As the tide got going we had a move to another mark. The next mark did us until the end of the day. It was still a dogfest but the lads managed a couple of beastly bass. Steve and chris had two lovely fish at 10.10lbs and 12.4lbs! as im sure you will understand these two fish made our day. Both came on baitbox frozen mackerel intended for tope. Tope fishing around here has long been known for throwing up decent bass and it looks like there are still one or two about. These were both fish of a life time and the biggest ive had on this boat. We fished on but didn’t manage any more of this size. Most of the day was endless dogfish but the lads fished hard and kept unhooking the dogfish and changing bait. This payed off for chris and steve and the other lads seemed pleased just to see such magnificent fish. other than the dogfish we had 5 roker and 5 bass for the day.
