Headed out today on a double boat booking along with derek on the ‘eastern promise’. The lads had a two boat competition between 16 lads. the weather was nice and calm which made life easy and with a good tide too we didn’t have to venture too far. The lads had 6 hours fishing time from when ever we started so we held off a bit until the tide started to run. The tide took a while to get going but as it did the fishing picked up. We had to measure and log each fish before returning as the lads don’t do the out dated ‘murder matches’ any more. At times it was quite hectic between waving the landing net around, measuring fish and making awful tea but we still found time for some banter.  There was a nice mix of fish coming out with a few hounds thrown in with the roker and even a couple of surprise silver eels. As the tide eased off the fishing did too and by the end of play there weren’t many fish coming out. one of the lads on dereks boat pulled out a nice bass of over two foot long before we packed up. There were a good few fish about with over 51 roker on my boat alone along with several hounds, whiting, dogfish a baby tope and eels.
